My Fitness Journey
Although I have always considered myself as an active person, my fitness journey has not always been easy or straight forward, and I understand and have been through the various constraints related to being, or becoming fit and healthy.
My passion started when I was 18, in the same way most people’s does; not feeling confident with my body and recognising a difference over time that I wasn't happy with. I knew if I didn't take positive action nothing would change. It started with a lap of the block of flats I lived in at the time, which always makes me laugh because what felt like running a marathon was actually not very long! It killed me! But still, young and stupid I pulled on the shortest hot pants imaginable and got it done. Over time my laps slowly increased, it began to feel easier and not long after, I pursued my sporting career as a rugby player and started working at the local gym as a Personal Trainer.
In the time since then I’ve experienced a lot; there have been highs and lows, periods of excellence and periods of defeat. I’ve gained and lost fitness on numerous occasions and battled through not just the physical, but the emotional and psychological repercussions of injury. At such times I have been forced to redirect my goals and have struggled to find my motivator as a result, but have always managed to rebalance myself and find a path that keeps me focused and driven. Since that first lap, my adoration for training has only ever grown; it is a lifestyle choice, something that I prioritise and factor in to my weekly regime, not because I feel obligated to, but because I have experienced and am still experiencing the positive impact it has on my life.
Don't get me wrong, I’m not that perfect girl who lives in the gym and has it all effortlessly worked out, some days are tough, but it’s about taking the good with the bad, relishing those moments of strength and forgiving those of weakness so that it becomes a positive cycle. I’m also not preaching that to have success you have to train every day for 10 years; the point is to find your own perfectly imperfect version of being fit and healthy and developing the strength, no pun intended, to maintain this.
I’m a great believer in the synchronicity of mind, body and soul and to improve upon one reaps benefits for the others. This translates in what I do, by understanding that bettering your body and physical wellness, will have a positive impact on your mind and emotions, resulting in a happier life. Through my experiences and with my knowledge and passion I help the people I work with to discover their motivators, connect with their body’s, achieve their physical goals and pave the way to a happier, healthier lifestyle.
